The White Throne Judgment
Much is being said today about the judgment of God and the end of the world. Many churches are proclaiming that when Jesus Christ comes back to earth again, the end of the planet earth will occur, and the day of God’s judgment will take place. They call this the End of Time and the Final Judgment.
On this subject of God’s judgment, there is so much confusion. It is simply because the churches that are advocating this to happen simply do not have their facts straight. Blinded by man-made ideologies and hand-me-down religious traditions, they fail to search out what the Word of God actually says and what it means when it says it. I ask you, what does the Bible say about the judgment of God?
When we begin our search for the Truth about God’s judgment in the Scriptures, we discover some very interesting facts. We do not find the phrase “final judgment”, a “last judgment” or a “final kingdom” anywhere in the Bible.
These terms are non-scriptural; they are man-made in order to support a false doctrine of futuristic events such as:
the Rapture
the antichrist
the Mark of the Beast
Armageddon, and
the Return of Jesus to the Earth.
These events are not going to happen in the future because they have already happened in the past, namely in the first century.
Eschatology is the study of the last-days generation of God’s Covenant that He had with the Nation of Israel. It was in that generation of forty years from AD 30 to AD 70 that there was a resurrection of all the dead, the Return of Jesus Christ, and the judgment of God.
In Matthew 5:17, Jesus said that He came, not to destroy the Law, but to fulfill the Law. God made a Covenant with the twelve tribes of Israel at Mt. Sinai after their deliverance from Egyptian bondage. He told them what would happen if they disobeyed His Laws.
In Deuteronomy 30:19, the Bible said that God set before Israel blessing and cursing, relationship or disfavor if they obeyed or disobeyed this covenant. In the Old Testament, many times Israel would follow God and obey the Covenant. Other times, Israel would fall away and disobey God’s Covenant bringing God’s Judgment. God would send prophets to Israel to warn them to repent and turn back to God and His Covenant. The Old Testament Scriptures reveal many failures of the Israelites. God often used heathen armies to chastise His Covenant-breaking people.
Moses told Israel what would happen to them in the latter days. He prophesied about the ultimate destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple. (Deuteronomy 31:29)
In Deuteronomy 28:49-58, Moses prophesies about the coming judgment upon a Covenant-breaking Israel.
This was the abomination of Desolation that Jesus spoke of in Matthew 24:15-21 and in Luke 21:20,22 which happened in AD 70 when the armies of Rome besieged the city of Jerusalem. This brought about the end of the Nation of Israel and the Covenant they had with God.
Isaiah 24:5 states that Israel had broken the everlasting Covenant. The result of breaking God’s Covenant would be the destruction of the Holy City and the Jewish Temple with its religion. In Matthew 23:32, Matthew 23:35-36, Matthew 23:38, Jesus said that the final measure would be filled by the Jews. He came in the Last Days to punish Covenant breakers. John 9:39 and John 12:31 say that the Judgment of God was coming upon them.
When reading the Book of Revelation, one can see that it is all about the coming of Jesus and God’s Judgment upon Israel. In Revelation 1:1, the Scripture says it is the Revelation of Jesus Christ which must shortly come to pass.
Revelation 1:3 says that “the time is at hand”. The Book of Revelation was written before AD 70. The word “Revelation” means “Apocalupsis” which means appearing, coming, manifestation, to be revealed. (Strong’s G#602)
It is all about:
the appearing and
return of Jesus.
The events recorded depict the Judgment of God against:
a Nation
a city
its Temple and finally
its end.
Paul admonishes Timothy to keep this commandment until the appearing of Jesus. (1 Timothy 6:14) Jesus appeared the first time to take away sin. (Hebrews 9:26, 28) Jesus appeared the second time to bring about the Judgment of God in AD 70. (Hebrews 9:28) In 1 Timothy 4:1-2, Paul charges Timothy to preach the Word until Jesus appeared in His Kingdom.
In 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9, Paul encourages the Thessalonians to not be troubled, but to rest until the Lord Jesus was revealed who would bring judgment of the disobedient. Peter told the church that the full and complete salvation would be revealed when Jesus comes. (1 Peter 1:5-9)
All of the Tribes of Israel would see the effects of the appearance of Jesus. (Matthew 24:30) In Matthew 26:64, we see Jesus telling the High Priest that he would see Jesus coming in the clouds of heaven. The Last Day of the Last Days was Resurrection Day and Judgment Day. (John 5:25, 28-29)
James 5:8-9 states that the coming of the Lord was nigh and that the judge was standing at the door. Paul told the Corinthians Church that they had all the gifts in operation while waiting for the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Conclusion
Jesus came to restore what Adam lost in the garden, spiritual life. (Romans 5:12) Ezekiel 18:4 clearly states “…. the soul that sinneth, it shall die.” (Hebrews 9:27) Jesus described it this way in John 3:16-19. Revelation 20:11-15 describes the White Throne Judgment which began in AD 70 and will continue throughout all eternity.
There is no end of time.
All humanity who are not New Covenant-connected by the Gospel of Jesus Christ will be judged by God at physical death. Where there is no remission of sin, there is no forgiveness of sin.
You will stand in judgment for your sin. This is the White Throne Judgment described in the Book of Revelation. This is soul destruction or the second death. Only the blood of Jesus can remove the sin from your soul. (John 3:3,5,7, Acts 2:37-30)
