Second-hand Information
In Proverbs 18:17, the Scripture says this. Many people believe what they hear and what they are told without any fact checking whatsoever.
Proverbs 14:15 says that it is the prudent man that will search to see if the things he is told are true. In Acts 17:10-11, the brethren of Berea
searched the Scriptures daily to make sure that what they were hearing was truth.
Was what they were told the real facts of the Bible?
Many things that preachers tell their congregations today sound good, but is it teaching that is good sound doctrine? How can a person know for
sure if what is being said is the Truth?
The Bible tells us in 1 Timothy 4:16 to take heed unto the doctrine. The doctrine that is in the Bible is the instructions given by God. Jesus spent
His whole earthy ministry preparing and teaching His disciples the words of Eternal life. John 17:8,17,20, Matthew 28:20
Therefore, the Apostles’ doctrine is the only doctrine of the New Testament. It is what they taught, what they said, and what they did. They were inspired by the Holy Spirit to write it down in the Book we call the Bible. 2 Timothy 3:16
There is no private interpretation of the Scriptures. 2 Peter 1:20-21 What it says to one person in this world, it says to every person in this world. What is requires of one person it requires of every person. It doesn’t matter the colour of your skin or your ethnicity or where you live or how much money you have or don’t have. Being famous or the kind of job you have means nothing. Male or female, it doesn’t matter.
At Calvary’s Cross, the ground is all level ground. The blood that Jesus shed was for anyone and everyone. His blood is for everyone; past, present, and future. His blood is for whosoever obeys the Gospel message of Jesus Christ.
Only Jesus had the words to eternal life. John 6:53-54,63,67-68 He gave these words of eternal life to the Apostles. John 17:8,14,17,18,20
Jesus prayed for all who will believe and obey the words of eternal life that He gave to His disciples. He gave it to them; they gave it to us; and today, believers are giving it to our generation. Two thousand years has not changed the Word of God that is forever settled in Heaven. Psalms 119:89
The first message that was preached on the Day of Pentecost in Acts 2:37-39,41, was the first written example of the Apostles carrying out the great commission that Jesus had commanded them to do. Matthew 28:19-20, Mark 16:15-16, Luke 24:47-48
We can follow the Apostles all through the Book of Acts and read how they continued to preach the same Gospel message that Jesus commanded them to preach. Acts 8:16-17, 10:44-48, 11:14-15, 16:30-33, 19:1-6, 22:16
All of these Scriptures prove that it was the same message, the same results of believing, obeying, and receiving the promise of eternal life. 1 John 2:25 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Hebrews 13:8
I encourage you to prove all things. 1 Thessalonians 5:21 Know what you believe and believe what you know. Contend, defend, and stand for the faith that was delivered unto the saints in the beginning. Jude 3
There are many examples of people in the Bible who said they represented God and spoke as God’s prophet. Many of these were false prophets. Deuteronomy 18:20,22
A false prophet is one that does not speak the words of God, nor were they sent by God to speak to the people. Jeremiah 23:16,21,32 Jesus spoke of many false prophets in His generation that would rise up and deceive many. Matthew 24:11
There have always been those who have said things that contradict God, His Will, and His purpose in the lives of those that were truly seeking Him.
In our world today, there are many voices speaking about faith in God, but they are not saying what has always been said in the Scriptures. These are the voices of strangers. John 10:5
Many preachers today advertise their “gifts of prophetic knowledge” about the Last Days and end-time events leading many people astray. Proverbs 25:14
Misinformation and disinformation are commonly used today to confuse people sincerely seeking to know the Truth of God’s Word.
Conclusion
When you receive and believe second-hand information without fact checking this information with the Bible, you may become a victim of misinformation.
Everything we hear preached and taught must be fact checked with Book, Chapter, and Verse in the Book we call the Bible. Without fact checking, we create the inability to walk with God in the Truth of His Word.
Please fact check everything you believe with what the Word of God says. Your salvation hangs in the balance.
